The Mission of the Maverick Swim Club is to provide the finest possible comprehensive aquatics program.  Our philosophy of “children first, swimmers second” creates an atmosphere where children learn valuable life lessons from their experiences in a competitive swimming environment.  We are committed to a structured, yet fun-oriented, program that provides an opportunity for swimmers to develop to their fullest potential.

Genesis Swims Fast at the WGLO

The Genesis group just completed a very successful meet at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.  19 swimmers participated in the prelim / final meet that started on Friday and ended Sunday afternoon.  The meet had age groups ranging from 9-18.  With just 19 Maverick Genesis swimmers, Maverick Swim Club placed 7th overall.

Maverick senior boys got plenty of attention.  Using the movie 300 as a motivational war cry, the boys dominated the Australian skins finals in the 50 sprint events. Maverick placed 1st through 5th in the first event, 50 fly.  Skins format is an elimination style event consisting of five rounds.  The first and second rounds eliminate two swimmers each.  The third and fourth rounds eliminate one swimmer each, bringing the final round of two swimmers competing head to head.  Our top two finishers in the event, Danny Tucker (1st) and Jack Ruble (2nd) had to sprint five (5) 50yd flys with 1 minute rest between swims.  A similar outcome in the 50 free with Danny Tucker (1st) and Andrew Eiken (2nd) taking the honors and Maverick finishing fourth through sixth and eighth.  Joel Demuth finished second in the 50 breast, and Drew Heidenreich finished third in the 50 back.

The rest of the swimming was just as outstanding.  Over 360 seconds of time drops at this meet from Maverick Personal Best times.   82 time drops (not including the drops made in finals) were made.

Mark and I would like to congratulate the high school boys on their pre-high school season with Genesis.  We look forward to seeing continued success at High School state with the goal of taking a team to Junior Nationals in the spring.

At the same time, we are excited to have the high school girls coming back to practice with us.  We have lots of fast swimming to do.
